Cosmos to Classrooms:
Our Programs for Schools

Starscapes partners with schools to bring astronomy and space science to life, not as a subject in a textbook, but as a living, breathing experience under the open sky.

We offer a range of hands-on, curriculum-aligned astronomy modules tailored for different age groups, from foundational clubs on space science for middle schoolers to advanced optical physics and stargazing workshops for senior students. Our year-round programs include in-school sessions, on-campus evening observations, and immersive outbound expeditions to our own dark-sky observatories in the Himalayas and beyond.

Whether it’s launching rockets to understand Newtonian physics, decoding celestial patterns through telescope sessions, or building DIY rovers and spectroscopes, every Starscapes module is designed to spark imagination, encourage critical thinking, and inspire a lifelong love for science.

What We Offer

School Programs

Each school is unique, and so should be the cosmic journey of your learners. At Starscapes, we specialise in curating space and astronomy programs to suit your requirements : age group of learners, time available during school hours, budget, and the time of the year (for observations). But here are some standard plans to help you get started.

Our sky gazing programme offers two sky observing sessions, one in the morning and another one at night. You’ll get a chance to observe the night sky through powerful telescopes. Our experts will point out various celestial objects, help you identify constellations, and explain fascinating astronomical facts. You can expect to observe planets, moon and some deep sky objects as well. The morning session is for observing the Sun through certified solar filters where learners will be introduced to sun spots and the role of magnetism in astronomy.

When the weather doesn’t support your cosmic intentions, or you choose to keep the students indoors, our experts will be ready with engaging, educational sessions which will include demonstrations and multi-media presentations. These indoor sessions will cover a variety of age-appropriate topics along with engaging activities, games and DIY projects to show learners the application of various concepts of science, mathematics and engineering they study in the classroom.

This programme offers the best of both worlds, two sky-observing sessions and three indoor sessions. Each of the indoor sessions will cover a different topic, and are tailored to match the learners’ curriculum to fulfil the NEP’s goal of experiential learning, where they don’t just learn a concept, but develop an understanding for it through a practical application, or real life example.

Some popular themes for our sessions are:

  • Solar System
  • Stars and Constellations
  • Galaxies
  • The expanding universe
  • Light
  • Rocketry

This is our most popular program offering multiple sessions throughout the academic year, along with two observing sessions, and/or an overnight camp stay for observing the dark sky.

Experiential learning and multi-disciplinary education are at the foundation of the new education policy. At Starscapes we have designed age-appropriate, fun-filled activities which not just introduce learners to the fundamental concepts of space and astronomy, but also demonstrates the natural link between various disciplines — physics, chemistry, mathematics, data sciences and art.

Our Astronomy club offers an opportunity for learners to enhance their understanding of the fundamental concepts of space and astronomy. The activities are designed to encourage enquiry and scientific temperament, along with life skills such as leadership, team spirit and sustainability.

Our exclusive 3 nights and 4 days offering for learners during long weekends or vacations. This unique package offers a mix of adventure activities, along with fun-filled educational activities and sky gazing sessions at one of our observatories (e.g. Corbett), making it an unforgettable outdoor learning experience. The package will include accommodation, meals, local transportation, outdoor adventure (e.g. rock climbing, bird watching, jungle safari etc.), games and activities along with two sky gazing sessions at our observatory.

Teacher Training workshop

“Equipped with his five senses, man explores the universe around him and calls the adventure Science.”

Starscapes believe in empowering educators with knowledge of fundamental concepts in astronomy, and enhancing their expertise and teaching skills. Our special teacher training workshop is curated by an expert panel of senior teachers, science communicators and astronomers to provide state-of-the-art resources and training to school teachers, and encourage them to use analogies and applications from space and astronomy to teach the standard school curriculum in the classroom.

Through this unique approach we aspire to promote innovative teaching methodologies, and foster academic excellence among educators. Our ultimate aim is to nurture passionate astronomy educators who can inspire their students to explore the wonders of the universe, and help in shaping well informed and curious individuals who will drive future innovations.

Observatory on Campus

Does your campus offers uninhibited view of the open skies?
Are you keen on incorporating a zesty flavour of research to your curriculum?

If the answer is yes, you can have your learners explore the cosmos from familiar turf with Starscapes’ fully functional astronomical observatory on your campus. This will encourage enquiry, help your learners gain practical experience of research in space and astronomy, and offer opportunities for your school/college to collaborate with educational institutions in the surrounding region.

An observatory on campus will be a landmark initiative, fostering scientific temper and bringing the wonders of the universe to your institution, while also allowing:

  • Educational projects for students to be conducted using data collected.
  • Conducting outreach activities from campus.
  • Earning revenue by selling celestial shows and workshops especially during special astronomical events such as eclipses.
  • Fostering collaborations with other schools and colleges in the neighbourhood.

Taramandal: The Astronomy Experience Centre

An astronomy lab in the school offers a space for learners to channelize their inner explorer energy — a space where they learn about our glorious space history, recent space missions and scientific achievements, and dream about becoming a part of India’s future endeavours in space, or just be intrigued to explore STEM concepts using DIY projects. An uninhibited space which inspires young learners to ask questions and find solutions by performing fun-filled activities.

Starscapes’ Taramandal is a complete installation of an astronomy lab which includes space and astronomy exhibits, games and activities, 3D models, VR zone, and much more.

A Taramandal on your campus will not just boost experiential learning for your students, but will add more value to your institutional infrastructure. Take Taramandal to your reception area, and you have an ever ready space to impress new parents (and earn revenue by offering ticketed tours to visitors)
