Geminids Astrophotography Workshop
(12 – 13 - 14 – 15 - 16 December, 2023)
On the night of 12th, 13th, 14th, and 15th December 2023 we will witness a spectacular phenomenon of the Geminids meteor shower. Looking at a Shooting star (which we commonly call them) in a star-studded sky excites everyone. Now imagine about 60-80 of them visible in just one hour (during peak) or counting to 500 by entire night. The Geminids meteor (famous for its bright colourful fireballs) is one of the most reliable meteor showers visible from earth.
In the realm of celestial events, the Geminids Meteor Shower stands out as one of the most spectacular displays, with its radiant bursts of shooting stars illuminating the night sky. To celebrate this cosmic phenomenon and empower enthusiasts to capture its brilliance, an Astrophotography Workshop was organized, providing participants with the skills and knowledge needed to photograph the Geminids Meteor Shower in all its glory.
The Geminids meteor shower astrophotography workshop not only provides you an opportunity to witness this beautiful phenomenon, but also enable you to capture it in form of beautiful images. Choose from one-night or two-night workshop held at specific Dark Sites.
The Geminids Meteor Shower Astrophotography Workshop aimed to merge the realms of science and art, offering participants a unique opportunity to master the technical aspects of astrophotography while immersing themselves in the beauty of the night sky. The workshop
was designed for photographers of all levels, from beginners eager to explore the cosmos to seasoned astrophotographers looking to refine their skills.
This workshop is a blend of practical session and some theory on astrophotography. It develops conceptual clarity of basics of night sky photography with loads of practical hands of experience. The number of participants has been limited which ensures the quality of the workshop and everyone will get ample time at all the stations to use every setup individually.
Key Components:
Introduction to Astrophotography Basics:
The workshop kicked off with a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of astrophotography. Topics covered included equipment selection, camera settings, and exposure techniques necessary for capturing the elusive streaks of the Geminids Meteor Shower.
Understanding the Geminids Meteor Shower:
A session dedicated to the science behind the Geminids Meteor Shower was conducted, providing participants with insights into the origin, peak times, and the best locations for observation. Understanding the meteor shower’s characteristics was crucial for planning the optimal shooting conditions.
Practical Shooting Techniques:
Participants had hands-on experience with their cameras as they learned the intricacies of capturing meteors against the backdrop of the night sky. Special attention was given to long-exposure photography, framing, and composition to ensure stunning results.
Post-Processing Tips and Tricks:
Beyond the camera, the workshop delved into post-processing techniques using popular software. Participants were guided on how to enhance their images, emphasizing the importance of balancing starlight, minimizing noise, and showcasing the meteor trails.
Night Sky Navigation:
A practical guide to navigating the night sky was provided, aiding participants in locating the
Radiant point of the Geminids and identifying constellations, ensuring they could align their shots effectively.
Participants will get access to world-class equipment used in astrophotography, latest telescopes, binoculars and cameras.

A. Stargazing with a specialist Star Guide –
A primarily naked eye guided show from a dark site away from the light pollution of the cities with an introduction about the constellations, the radiant, the types of metoers it’s origins etc
Cost: ₹2,500 Only.
Inclusions:
Guided Stargazing show with light snacks and a digital copy of your Selfie with the Stars.
Workshop only:
Workshop sessions along with light snacks on the field.
Cost:
₹5,000 Only for 1 N
₹10,000 Only for 2N
Location: At a Dark Site in Jaipur
Participants are required to carry a hard disk, camera (optional), tripod (optional) & laptop (optional). A detailed itinerary and gear list will be shared with all the participants.
Please note: Travel insurance is a must for all the participants.
B. Basic (1N) or Advanced (2N) Astrophotography Workshop(Jaipur Only):
The basic workshop will cover the beginner concepts of capturing the night sky (including the meteor shower). The sessions will be a combination of theory + on-field session on the same night along with a basic introduction to processing your images.
The advanced workshop will have a common schedule on the first night followed by a theory and on-field advanced session using sophisticated gears like star-trackers, software techniques like stacking your images etc and a much more in-depth post processing session.
The sessions will be conducted on the outskirts of Jaipur with minimal light pollution with a star party like setup accompanied with light snacks to help you make the most out of the night.

Basic Astrophotography Workshop:
Full Package: ₹12,500 Only.
Workshop Only: ₹5,000 Only.
Advanced Astrophotography Workshop:
Full Package: ₹25,000 Only.
Workshop Only: ₹10,000 Only.
Inclusions:
Full Package: 1N (Basic) or 2N (Advanced) stay at minimum 3 star hotel/resort on Twin sharing basis or solo with Breakfast and Dinner included. Travel to the dark site location and back to the hotel. Workshop sessions.
