Celestial Hour

One hour. One astronomer. One universe to explore

A live webinar series for everyone who has ever looked up and wanted to know more, hosted by the people who do.

Prof. T. R. Seshadri

Former Professor, Department of Physics & Astrophysics, University of Delhi

Prof. T.R. Seshadri is an accomplished astrophysicist who superannuated from the University of Delhi. He completed his PhD in Theoretical Astrophysics from TIFR and has held research positions at the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), University of Delhi, and the Astronomy Centre at the University of Sussex, UK.

He has served as faculty at the Harish-Chandra Research Institute in Bengaluru before joining the University of Delhi. His research spans cosmology, the physics of the early universe and inflation, cosmic microwave background radiation, and large-scale structure formation. He is currently working on atmospheric fluid dynamics and the role of aerosols in cloud formation.

Universe: What We Understand and What We Don’t

On the basis of the physical principles, we now seem to have an idea as to how the universe observed today came about. While we have had significant success in our broad understanding of how the universe evolved from its earlier stages to its present form, and why it looks the way it does today, several unresolved issues remain. While some of these have to do with the details of how physical processes unfold as the universe evolves, there are certain issues which threaten to shake some fundamental aspects of physics like the nature of gravity itself. In this talk, the speaker will run through the evolution of the universe from its early stages to present day, highlighting both our successes as well as our lack of understanding of the universe at different stages of its evolution.

Conversations That Bring the Universe Closer

The universe is 13.8 billion years old, and it is full of mysteries. At Starscapes Experiences, we believe the best way to fall in love with the cosmos is to hear about it from the people who have devoted their lives to it. That’s why we are introducing Celestial hour, a free, live webinar series where eminent astronomers, astrophysicists, and space scientists join us to share their discoveries, and their stories.

Whether you’re an enthusiastic stargazer, a student of science, or simply someone who has looked up at the night sky and felt the pull of something vast, these conversations are for you. Each session is an intimate, unhurried dialogue: part lecture, part storytelling, part live Q&A. No jargon walls. Just real science, real passion, and the kind of perspective that only comes from spending a career looking outward.

From dark-sky expeditions to deep-field imaging, from black hole research to the search for exoplanets,  our speakers bring the frontier to you.
