Celestial Hour
One hour. One astronomer. One universe to explore
A live webinar series for everyone who has ever looked up and wanted to know more, hosted by the people who do.

Prof. Sivarani Thirupathi
Senior Professor - Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Bengaluru
Professor Sivarani Thirupathi is an astrophysicist and Professor at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Bengaluru, where she has been serving as a Professor since 2020. She holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the Indian Institute of Astrophysics and has nearly three decades of research experience in astronomy.
Her research focuses on Galactic archaeology, extremely metal-poor stars, exoplanet host stars, and astronomical spectroscopy. She studies ancient, metal-poor stars in the Milky Way to understand the earliest generations of stars, the first supernovae, and the chemical evolution of our Galaxy. Her work also examines the relationship between host-star properties and the formation of exoplanets.
Professor Thirupathi has held research positions at institutions in India, the United States, France, and Italy, including Michigan State University, the University of Florida, IUCAA, and the Observatory of Trieste. She has contributed to major astronomical projects including SDSS-III/MARVELS and instrumentation initiatives associated with the Thirty Meter Telescope. She has also served in leadership and advisory roles in Indian and international astronomy, including the Astronomical Society of India and the International Astronomical Union.

Written in the Stars: The Chemical History of the Universe
The story of the elements begins with the Big Bang and continues inside stars of different masses, which create and release different elements on different timescales. New generations of stars form from this increasingly enriched gas, carrying the chemical fingerprints of their predecessors.By studying the abundance and ratios of elements in stars, we can perform cosmic archaeology, tracing their origins and building a chemical genealogy of stellar populations. These stellar fingerprints allow us to reconstruct how the Milky Way formed and evolved over billions of years, and ultimately trace the cosmic origins of the elements that make up our world and ourselves.

Conversations That Bring the Universe Closer
The universe is 13.8 billion years old, and it is full of mysteries. At Starscapes Experiences, we believe the best way to fall in love with the cosmos is to hear about it from the people who have devoted their lives to it. That’s why we are introducing Celestial hour, a free, live webinar series where eminent astronomers, astrophysicists, and space scientists join us to share their discoveries, and their stories.
Whether you’re an enthusiastic stargazer, a student of science, or simply someone who has looked up at the night sky and felt the pull of something vast, these conversations are for you. Each session is an intimate, unhurried dialogue: part lecture, part storytelling, part live Q&A. No jargon walls. Just real science, real passion, and the kind of perspective that only comes from spending a career looking outward.
From dark-sky expeditions to deep-field imaging, from black hole research to the search for exoplanets, our speakers bring the frontier to you.
